About the role

Toogoolawa School, an independent special needs school located in Ormeau, Queensland, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Aide/Support Worker to join our team.


What you'll be doing

  • Assisting teachers in the classroom with lesson planning, preparation, and delivery

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs

  • Implementing individual education plans and behaviour management strategies

  • Facilitating educational and recreational activities that cater to the unique needs of our students

  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to student progress and support

  • Collaborating with the teaching staff and other support personnel to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment

What we're looking for

  • A genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs

  • Previous experience working as a youth worker, teacher aide or in a similar support role, preferably in a special needs or inclusive education setting

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues

  • Patience, empathy, and an adaptable approach to meeting the unique needs of each student

  • Relevant qualifications or a willingness to undertake ongoing professional development
