The Islamic College of Brisbane (ICB) is seeking a dedicated Teacher Aide – Arabic / ESL to join our college, commencing January 2026. This role supports both Arabic language classes and ESL (English as a Second Language) learners, helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within our inclusive learning environment.

The successful applicant will work 8:00am–3:10pm, Monday to Friday, during school terms. Working closely with classroom teachers, you will assist in delivering high-quality learning experiences, provide small-group and one-to-one support, and contribute to creating a positive and nurturing environment aligned with the College’s Islamic values.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide classroom-based support under the direction of the classroom teacher, including assisting with lesson activities, monitoring student engagement, and supporting individual and small-group learning

• Support Arabic language classes by assisting with learning activities, resource preparation, and student supervision

• Provide targeted support for ESL learners, including helping students develop English language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension

• Assist teachers in implementing IEPs, SSPs, and personalised learning plans

• Prepare resources, materials, and classroom setups to support effective teaching and learning

• Supervise students during meal breaks, playground duties, and on excursions as required

• Maintain positive, supportive relationships with students, teachers, and families

• Uphold duty of care and report any wellbeing, behavioural, or child-safety concerns promptly

• Support an inclusive learning environment that encourages student confidence, independence, and engagement

• Contribute to the College’s Islamic ethos through respectful, professional, and caring conduct

Selection Criteria

• Experience supporting student learning in a school environment (essential)

• Ability to assist students with varying learning abilities, including ESL learners

• Arabic language proficiency (spoken and/or written) highly regarded

• Experience in Education Support, Special Education, or learning support (advantageous)

• Ability to build positive relationships with students and contribute to a nurturing, safe, and inclusive environment

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and support staff

• Excellent organisational skills and initiative in the classroom

• Diploma in Children’s Services / Education Support (or working towards) desirable

• Current Blue Card (Working With Children Check) required
