Denison College of Secondary Education - Kelso High Campus
is a comprehensive public high school with 815 students, including 160
Aboriginal students, located in the city of Bathurst NSW, three hours drive
from the Sydney CBD. Bathurst boasts a rich heritage and beautiful natural
environment, a wide range of career opportunities and an affordable lifestyle,
and a thriving and inclusive social scene.
The campus offers a comprehensive wellbeing support system
and has nine support classes, including one Tutorial (TUT), two Intensive
Learning Support – Mental Health (ILS-MH), four Autism (AU), one Mild
Intellectual Disability (IM) and one Multi-Categorical (MC) class that
integrate seamlessly with mainstream classes. The highly skilled teachers in
the support unit demonstrate broad knowledge and understanding of legislative
requirements and teaching strategies that support the participation and
learning of the 71 enrolled students. Our team has a strong emphasis on
personal achievement, supported by a well-resourced environment with two

Selection Criteria:
Successful applicants must have NSW Department of Education
approval to teach in NSW public schools. If you require assistance in obtaining

The selection process involves:
- submission
of a current resume with contact details for two school-based referees who
are familiar with, and able to discuss, your abilities and suitability for
this position. One of your referees must be your current/most recent
supervisor.
- submission
of a written application addressing the specific selection criteria below
(maximum of 1 ½ pages)
- verbal
referee reports and
- an
informal interview.
Specific Selection Criteria:
1. Approval and/or experience to
teach students with diverse learning needs in a supportive classroom
environment.
2. Demonstrated strength in
classroom management and the use of trauma informed strategies to create a
safe, inclusive learning space.
3. Capacity to work
collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, families, and external
agencies to meet student needs and
promote positive educational outcomes.
