The Opportunity

Due to the growth of the college, the Islamic College of Brisbane (ICB) is currently seeking Year Level Leaders (Primary) to work with the Chief Learning Officer and support the Head of Primary School in leading our year-level educational staff from Prep to Year 6. This role commences in 2026 and is responsible to ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning, student wellbeing, and faith-aligned pastoral care across the Primary School. This is a position of added responsibility, undertaken alongside classroom teaching duties.

Year Level Leadership roles vacant include:

  • Prep Leader

  • Year 1 Leader

  • Year 2 Leader

  • Year 3 Leader

  • Year 4 Leader

  • Year 5 Leader

  • Year 6 Leader

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide educational leadership, pastoral care, and curriculum oversight for the assigned year level.

  • Lead and support teachers in implementing curriculum, assessment, and reporting aligned with the Australian Curriculum

  • Promote and model Islamic pedagogy and values in teaching and learning practices

  • Use student data (e.g. NAPLAN, PAT, internal assessments) to guide instruction and improve academic outcomes

  • Collaborate with the Head of Primary and other Heads of Year Level to ensure consistency, innovation, and excellence across the Primary School

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that supports student wellbeing, engagement, and growth

  • Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents to build strong partnerships and maintain a positive school culture

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Primary Education and current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and curriculum leadership within a primary school context

  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teaching teams

  • Strong understanding of data-informed instruction and curriculum planning

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to Islamic values and the mission of the College

  • Ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment
