Job Summary

Why work with us?

Dundas Public School is a welcoming and inclusive K–6 school with 296 students. Approximately 4% of our students identify as Aboriginal and 68% have a language background other than English. Our school consists of 13 mainstream classes and celebrates the rich diversity of our community, where every student is known, valued and supported to achieve their personal best.

At Dundas Public School, we recognise that student wellbeing is the foundation for successful learning. We are committed to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where students are empowered to connect, succeed and thrive. Through our shared expectations of being safe, respectful and responsible, we foster positive relationships, resilience and a strong sense of responsibility. As a restorative practices school, we believe in building, maintaining and repairing relationships through respectful communication, accountability and collaboration. This approach strengthens our positive school culture, supports student wellbeing and helps every member of our community feel valued, heard and connected.

About the role

The Learning and Support Teacher plays a pivotal role in the school's planned approach to identifying students with additional needs and providing support across a range of ways within a clearly defined framework.

This includes the provision of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions (learning and behaviour), overseeing the progress monitoring of intervention programs, and working directly with teachers and teaching teams to build their capacity to support diverse learners. The role also involves collaborating with school staff, parents/carers and external agencies to plan and coordinate appropriate supports, including behaviour support plans, personalised learning and support plans, access requests and other adjustments to meet students' individual needs.

This position is 0.8 FTE for the remainder of 2026, with the possibility of extension, subject to ongoing school needs and funding.

Selection criteria

  • Provide targeted learning and support interventions for students with diverse needs, including learning, behavioural, and social-emotional challenges.

  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to plan, implement, and monitor PLaSPs, behaviour support plans, and curriculum adjustments.

  • Build strong partnerships with staff, families, and external agencies to support student wellbeing and achievement.
