About the Role
The Assistant Head of Faculty – Diverse Learning (EAL/D & Literacies) will lead the College’s EAL/D program within the Diverse Learning Faculty. Working closely with faculty leaders, classroom teachers, and student support teams, the successful candidate will ensure students requiring literacy and language support are provided with effective, evidence-based learning strategies and interventions.
The role supports a broad range of learners, including:

Students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

EAL/D learners developing English language proficiency
-
International students
-
Students identified with literacy barriers impacting learning outcomes
A key focus of the position is driving accessible literacy practices across the curriculum and strengthening whole-school approaches to inclusive education.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the EAL/D program within the Diverse Learning Faculty
-
Support literacy development initiatives across Years 5–12

Collaborate with Heads of Learning, classroom teachers, and support staff

Assist in developing and refining College processes for students at varying stages of English proficiency
-
Support teachers with inclusive classroom practices and differentiated learning strategies
-
Monitor student progress and contribute to targeted intervention planning

Work collaboratively with the International Students Coordinator and wider pastoral teams
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:

Experience supporting EAL/D students and literacy intervention programs

Strong knowledge of inclusive education and differentiated teaching practices

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Passion for supporting diverse learners in a secondary school environment

Essential Requirements

Current Queensland Teacher Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)

Relevant teaching qualifications

Previous middle leadership or Diverse Learning experience highly regarded
