Job Summary

About the role

Gulyangarri Public School opened at the beginning of 2024. It is a Preschool to Year 6 school located adjacent to Liverpool Boys and Liverpool Girls High Schools in the Liverpool CBD. Current enrolment is 340 including 7 Aboriginal students and 86% of students from language backgrounds other than English.

The school’s name comes from Darug language and translates to children in English. The word gulyangarri highlights the importance of children being at the centre of all that we do.

The position is based in the support unit. There are four classes in the support unit – 2 x AU, 1 x AU/IO and 1 x MC. There are a diverse range of needs requiring differentiated and individualised teaching programs aligned to personalised learning and support plans. A strong emphasis is placed on evidence-based teaching practices across the school with explicit instruction a key focus. The support unit is staffed by teachers and SLSOs who work collaboratively to implement quality teaching within a supportive learning environment. Staff work closely with families and external agencies to support student learning and wellbeing.

The temporary position starts at the beginning of Term 2, Monday 20 April 2026, until the end of Term 4 2026, Thursday 17 December 2026, with the opportunity to extend.
