Warrawong High School, a comprehensive and multicultural NSW government school serving students from Years 7–12, is seeking a qualified HSIE teacher with the ability to teach Modern History for Terms 2 and 3 to cover a paternity leave block.

Role overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging HSIE and Modern History lessons that align with the NSW syllabus and support student learning across diverse ability levels. You will contribute to assessment, reporting and classroom management, working collaboratively with the HSIE faculty and wider school community.

Candidates we are looking for

We are seeking a passionate and reflective teacher who:

  • Holds NSW Teacher Accreditation (or is eligible for accreditation) and relevant HSIE qualifications with experience or demonstrated ability to teach Modern History.

  • Demonstrates strong classroom management skills and the ability to differentiate instruction for mixed‑ability classes.

  • Shows a commitment to working effectively with students from multicultural and multilingual backgrounds, including students from migrant, refugee and new‑arrival pathways.

  • Is comfortable using technology and literacy‑rich strategies to support learning, in line with the school’s focus on integrating literacy and technology across the curriculum.

  • Values inclusivity, student wellbeing and positive relationships with students, staff and families.
