About the Role
Fort Street Public School has an enrolment of 300, with 86% LBOTE background. The staff are committed to a collective strategy of ensuring all students have the opportunity to connect, thrive and succeed. The school is located within Sydney’s CBD in Millers Point, atop Observatory Hill. The school recently completed a rebuild, reopening in January 2024 with nine collaborative Learning Hubs focused on maximising the expectations for all students in literacy and numeracy and staff is committed to implementing evidenced based, data informed quality teaching through the explicit teaching model. The school has a number of teacher-led, extracurricular programs on offer to students and the school community is cohesive and highly supportive of the school and its programs.
Expressions of interest are invited from experienced K-6 teachers interested in the role of Classroom Teacher for the 2025 school year from 6th February 2025 to 20 December 2025.
Role criteria
· Approval to teach K-6, with a demonstrated ability to plan and teach well structured, explicit and engaging lessons.
· Skills and/or experience and passion for whole school and extracurricular activities.
· Highly developed interpersonal skills with a commitment to plan, teach and assess in a flexible learning environment, implementing the principles of collaborative practice and co-teaching, with a shared responsibility for student improvement.
· Demonstrated outstanding classroom management strategies that cater for the needs of students with varying behavioural, academic and social needs and focus on enhancing student engagement and wellbeing.
