Job Summary
Expressions of interest are invited from School Administrative and Support Staff interested in a temporary opportunity relieving in the position of School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) from 31 January 2025 to 19 December 2025 (with the possibility of an extension).
The position will be located at: Marrickville High School / Metro South /Centennial Street, Marrickville, 2204.
The School Learning Support Officer provides support for students with identified learning needs including disability in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. This support includes welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required.
This role will involve specific support of Aboriginal students and their families to support improved learning, welfare and wellbeing within Marrickville High School.
Requirements for the role
· Working with Children Check Clearance
· First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training
· Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.
· Knowledge and commitment to the Department of Education’s Aboriginal Education and Training Policy

Selection Criteria
· Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a team.
· Effective oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to work with teachers and students and the wider school community
· Understanding of the needs of Aboriginal students
· Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and communities
One of the referees listed must be the applicant’s current principal or supervisor for non-school-based staff.
