Job Summary

Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified and experienced staff for the position of Temporary Indonesian language teacher at Carlton Public School. This position is for 2025, with the possibility of extension, at 0.8 FTE (Tuesday – Friday). The successful applicant will be working in a temporary capacity as a key member of the language team. 

Position Information: 

Carlton Public School has an enrolment of 624 students. Our students come from diverse socio–economic and cultural backgrounds. 93% of students come from language backgrounds other than English and 1% identify as Aboriginal. Carlton PS has a strong academic focus, especially in growth and attainment for all students in literacy and numeracy. The learning needs of our students are supported with a large team of specialist staff including EAL/D teachers and Learning and Support staff. Carlton Public School provides a range of performing arts and sporting programs giving students the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities. Promoting student voice is a priority and students are given opportunities to develop leadership skills. A strong emphasis is placed on integrating technology in classroom learning programs. We currently offer 4 community languages – Macedonian, Mandarin, Arabic and Greek. In addition to this, Indonesian is taught as a Language other than English (LOTE). This means that all students at Carlton PS learn a language. Parental involvement is highly valued, and the Parents and Citizens' Association plays a vital role in supporting school programs and improving educational outcomes for all students.

Selection Criteria:

1.Approval to teach Infants, Primary and Indonesian - Community Language, with knowledge of the Modern Languages syllabus outcomes and Indonesian language and culture.

2.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of explicit teaching and ongoing assessment and feedback to engage and differentiate the curriculum to meet the learning needs and strengths of a diverse range of learners.

3.Highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work actively and authentically when collaborating with students, staff, and parents to support student outcomes and promote a positive school culture.

Conditions: An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
