Toongabbie East Public School is a small metropolitan school. Although situated geographically close to the hub of Parramatta City, Toongabbie East Public School is set back from main highways and bordered by the Toongabbie Creek, which provides a rurallike feel to the school. From 2015, the school has steadily grown from 55 students to 101 in 2021. There is a diverse student cohort with 30% from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background and 65% from a background where English is an additional language or dialect. The most prominent languages are Aboriginal-English, Tamil, Gejurati, Arabic, Dinka, Mandarin, Telugu, Cantonese and Samoan. Our school is expected to grow as the broader community experiences growth in the development of high and medium density housing. There is a long day care centre on the school grounds, with preschool and before and after school care programs. Our school has 3 Support Unit classes along with 4 mainstream classes. We are fortunate to have spacious grounds including a full sized soccer oval and a refurbished basketball court. TEPS has just completed our yarning circle for outdoor learning with large grassed areas and trees for shade. Our school is well appointed, with a large library, connected classrooms, an art/sensory room and an iPad for each student to enhance the learning within the classroom.
