The successful applicant will work closely with a School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) to provide intensive 2:1 staff-to-student support for a student, at Greenwich Public School, with complex behavioural, social and emotional needs.

The role requires an experienced, calm and flexible teacher who can build positive relationships while maintaining clear and consistent expectations. The teacher will support the student to safely engage in learning, develop self-regulation skills and participate in school routines and activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Working collaboratively with an SLSO to maintain a consistent 2:1 support model.
• Implementing individualised learning, behaviour and wellbeing plans.
• Proactively identifying triggers and using appropriate strategies to support regulation and prevent escalation.
• Responding calmly and safely to challenging and unpredictable behaviours.
• Adjusting learning experiences to support successful engagement and participation.
• Maintaining clear routines, boundaries and expectations.
• Collecting and documenting relevant information about student engagement, behaviour and progress.
• Working collaboratively with school leadership, the Learning and Support Team, Department personnel, parents/carers and relevant external professionals.
• Supporting the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of the student, other students and staff.

This position would suit a teacher with experience in special education, behaviour support, trauma-informed practice or working with students with complex needs. Strong communication, teamwork, resilience and the ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations are essential.
