Early Intervention Teacher - Tuesdays & Fridays - Immediate Start from Term 3. 

There is an immediate opportunity for a 0.4 FTE job share position at Towradgi Public School commencing in term 3 2026 for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension. The position will be for Tuesdays and Fridays. Towradgi Public School is a Kindergarten to Year 6 school located in the Fairy Meadow area of Wollongong, proudly serving a diverse and inclusive community. The school comprises five mainstream classes and four support classes, including a specialised Early Intervention class, ensuring that students with a range of learning needs are supported from their earliest years of schooling. With an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of 11% and an EAL/D population of 32%, the school celebrates cultural and linguistic diversity, embedding inclusive practices, personalised learning adjustments and strong wellbeing programs to ensure every child feels known, valued and supported. From Preschool through to Year 6, the school is committed to nurturing confident, capable learners who are encouraged to reach their full potential in a safe and

supportive environment. 


The position of Early Intervention Teacher provides specialised support for young children who have a disability or learning support need and their families. It promotes each child’s development and meaningful participation in all aspects of their life. The position includes providing specialist support through early intervention support class sessions, where children attend Towradgi Public School for 2.5 hours per day, as well as resourcing support where the early intervention teacher provides regular support to a child attending a childcare centre or preschool. An expression of interest addressing the criteria, of no more than 2 pages in length in addition to the application form, should be submitted to Sally Purdy, Relieving Assistant Principal Wellbeing, Towradgi Public School at sally.purdy9@det.nsw.edu.au by 4pm on Friday 11th July 2026.

Selection criteria

 Approval to teach and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices and outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework.

 Ability to support the inclusion and meaningful participation of children in the support class into mainstream early childhood education and care services, and a willingness to support the inclusion and engagement of children in the support class into whole school events.

 Proven capacity to build and maintain relationships with staff, student and families to ensure the successful inclusion of students with additional needs.

 Expertise in creating, implementing and reviewing Personalised Learning & Support Plans, Behaviour Response Plans, Health Care Plans, Transition Plans and Access Requests in collaboration with families, the school learning support team, the school learning support officer (SLSO), outside agencies and professionals.


Expressions of interest must not exceed two A4 pages plus a covering page and require the signature of the applicant’s current principal or supervisor. One of the referees listed must be the applicant’s current principal or supervisor for nonschool-based staff.
