Job Summary

The Opportunity
Islamic College of Brisbane is seeking a committed and passionate Islamic Studies Teacher to join our Secondary School team. This role plays a key part in supporting students’ spiritual, moral, and personal development through high-quality Islamic education aligned with the College’s Islamic ethos and values.

The successful applicant will deliver engaging Islamic Studies programs while contributing positively to student wellbeing, pastoral care, and the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Islamic Studies to secondary students in line with the College curriculum and Islamic ethos

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that support student learning and spiritual development

  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in a timely and accurate manner

  • Support students’ understanding of the Qur’an, Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence, history, and traditions

  • Foster positive behaviour, respect, and Islamic manners within the classroom

  • Contribute to the College’s pastoral care and spiritual programs, including prayers and assemblies

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and continuous improvement

  • Participate in co-curricular activities, events, and professional development

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant qualifications in Islamic Studies and teaching

  • Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration or Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)

  • Demonstrated experience teaching Islamic Studies at a secondary level (preferred)

  • Strong understanding of Islamic teachings, values, and practices

  • Ability to engage and inspire students through inclusive and respectful teaching practices

  • Commitment to the Islamic ethos, values, and mission of the College

  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia
