Job Summary
Whalan Public School Preschool is looking for a Preschool Teacher.

Must have Early Childhood qualifications and a knowledge of EYLF.

The position is from the beginning of Term 2 until the end of the year, with the possibility of extension.

About the role

A public preschool teacher is responsive to the needs of children and enriches learning, development and wellbeing aligned to the National Quality Framework. The preschool teacher is responsible for implementing a child safe, play-based curriculum in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework. This includes using the planning cycle to guide teaching and the preschool curriculum. The preschool teacher is committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, creating inclusive, culturally responsive environments and adapting teaching to meet diverse needs and abilities. The preschool teacher is required to work with the Preschool School Learning Support Officer (SLSO), preschool supervisor and principal to meet the National Quality Framework. This includes ensuring compliance with child protection, health and safety, active supervision and departmental policy requirements, and contributing to self-assessment and quality improvement planning to drive continuous improvement.

Selection criteria

  • Approval to teach P-2 or P-6 with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build safe, respectful and positive relationships with children, families, colleagues and communities, inclusive of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and abilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to implement, the National Quality Framework (NQF) to ensure the preschool meets the legislative requirements of the National Law and Regulations and meets or exceeds the National Quality Standard.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply the principles, practices and learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to guide curriculum decision-making and support children’s learning, development, and wellbeing through play-based and intentional teaching approaches.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to build safe, secure, respectful and collaborative relationships with children, families, staff and the community.
