About the role

The School Administrative Officer will work under the direction of the School Administrative Manager and Principal.

The role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to the following: providing frontline office support, managing phone inquiries, administering student medication and first aid, handling email correspondence, maintaining filing systems, utilising School Bytes, and SAP, overseeing student enrolments (ERN), and facilitating purchasing processes through Ed Buy.

Selection criteria

  • Effective oral and written communication skills and well-developed interpersonal skills to interact professionally and respectfully with staff, students, community and all visitors to the school. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to exercise initiative, organise resources, prioritise competing demands, adhere to deadlines and work in a flexible team environment. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Enrolments, School Bytes, SAP, ERN, Edbuy as well as other Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
  • Capacities to learn new skills and work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team, as well as independently.

Who can apply

This opportunity is open to current Department of Education employees who hold or have previously held an SAO role, as well as suitable candidates with proven experience in school or office administration. Applicants should have a strong understanding of school administrative practices, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Temporary or casual employees looking to gain valuable experience in school administration are encouraged to apply.
