EALD Teacher – Years 3–6 (0.6 FTE)


Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Commencement: As close to the start of Term 1 2026 as possible (negotiable)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced EALD teacher to provide intensive English language support for students in Years 3–6. This role combines direct teaching, assessment and levelling, and close collaboration with classroom teachers, ensuring support is responsive, targeted, and aligned with student need and funding allocation.
The position involves a structured timetable of small-group instruction alongside a significant administrative and monitoring component, particularly around EALD levelling and data management.


Key Responsibilities


  • Deliver targeted and intensive EALD instruction through small-group and rotation models, aligned to student allocation units
  • Support students across a range of English proficiency levels, from high-needs learners to monitored/near-mainstream students
  • Plan and deliver lessons focused on language skills outlined within the LEAP levels.
  • Conduct LEAP levelling assessments, including two formal levelling points (late Term 1 and middle Term 2)
  • Complete and manage EALD administration, including: LEAP data entry and moderation, EMS data entry, Tracking, monitoring, and documentation of student progress
  • Liaise closely with classroom teachers to: Share student data and progress, Support classroom differentiation, share or co-plan strategies for language development in class contexts, Organise learning timetable
  • Work flexibly within the timetable to respond to new arrivals, changing student needs, and assessment demands
Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience working specifically in EALD settings (primary preferred)
  • Completion of LEAP levelling training
  • Strong understanding of EALD, assessment, and reporting requirements
  • High-level organisation skills and confidence managing data, tracking, and compliance tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with teachers and leaders
Desirable / Required


  • Experience using the LEAP app for levelling
  • Completion of (or willingness to complete) the online course required to access the LEAP app via EdChat for AI-assisted levelling
  • Experience working within a school-wide EALD model aligned to allocation units and funding
