Job Summary
At Lucas Gardens School, the School Learning Support Officer assists students with daily routines, classroom activities, and participation in individual education and transition programs. This includes supporting students during bus arrivals and departures, helping with unpacking, and facilitating engagement in learning and socialisation activities. The role involves aiding the development of independent living and pre-vocational skills through travel training, excursions, and work experience, using appropriate communication methods tailored to each student. The SLSO also supports teachers by preparing learning resources, operating classroom technology, and performing minor clerical tasks. Additionally, the position requires assisting students with additional behavioural needs, operating mobility equipment safely following training, and administering medication as prescribed while maintaining accurate documentation. Other duties may be assigned by school leadership to support the overall needs of students and the school community.
