The Opportunity

The Head of Secondary will provide strategic and operational leadership across pastoral, academic, and wellbeing domains. Working closely with the Executive Principal, the successful candidate will be responsible for shaping a positive and holistic Secondary School experience for every student.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Culture

• Lead and inspire a team of committed educators, fostering high standards of teaching and learning

• Promote a values-based culture that integrates academic excellence, wellbeing, and character development

• Build strong, trust-based relationships with students, staff, and families

Curriculum & Academic Oversight

• Oversee curriculum administration and planning (QCAA aligned)

• Lead assessment endorsement and confirmation processes

• Monitor academic progress and student outcomes across Years 7–12

• Support Senior Education and Training (SET) planning and tertiary pathways

Student Wellbeing & Pastoral Care

• Lead systems and processes that support student wellbeing and engagement

• Oversee transition programs, including Year 7 induction and new student onboarding

• Support student leadership initiatives and whole-school events

• Manage complex student behaviour matters in collaboration with the Principal

Staff Development

• Lead staff performance, development, and appraisal processes

• Support early-career teachers and encourage peer mentoring

• Provide opportunities for staff leadership and professional growth

Operations & Administration

• Oversee Secondary School operations including scheduling, events, assemblies, and communication

• Ensure systems are efficient, well-documented, and aligned with whole-school priorities

• Manage resources effectively and plan for future growth

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Proven experience in secondary education leadership or middle/senior leadership roles

• Strong people leadership skills with the ability to build trust and lead with integrity

• An analytical and forward-thinking approach to program development

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage positively with families

• A calm, principled, and confident approach to student wellbeing and behaviour management

Qualifications & Requirements

• Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration

• Postgraduate qualification in education and/or leadership (preferred)

• Demonstrated experience in educational leadership

• Commitment to the values and ethos of a faith-based educational environment

• Willingness to be visible and engaged in co-curricular, spiritual, or community activities
