Job Summary
Willoughby Public School is seeking a Kindergarten Teacher for the remainder of the school year. Experience in teaching Early Stage 1 is preferred, along with familiarity with the new NSW English and Mathematics units. Our preference is for one teacher to cover the position full-time. Approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education is essential.
The class is one of six Early Stage 1 classes, and teachers collaborate as a team in planning, assessing, and moderating. The Kindergarten team is supported by an on-class Assistant Principal.
Willoughby Public School follows Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBEL) and restorative justice practices, with a strong emphasis on positive behaviour management strategies. The school has 36 classes and an enrolment of just over 900 students. Two off-class Deputy Principals and two Assistant Principals for Curriculum & Instruction (APCI) provide support to all teachers. Additionally, a Learning Support Teacher and a team of School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) assist in enhancing student learning across the school.
Willoughby Public School is focused on high potential gifted education (HPGE), with opportunities to extend students integrated into lessons, supported by the Learning Support Teacher and APCIs.
A comprehensive handover will be provided, and there will be an opportunity to work alongside the departing teacher during the first two weeks of the term.
To apply, please submit a brief cover letter and CV. Short-listed applicants will be invited for an interview during Week 1 of Term 3.
