Key Responsibilities:
The School Accountant will report to the Business Manager and will be responsible for implementing and managing the College's asset plans and programs, ensuring that assets effectively support and align with the College's strategic objectives. Key duties include supporting property transactions, asset performance, commercial partnerships, and compliance with regulations. The role also involves assisting in the development of long-term asset management strategies, optimizing asset lifecycles, and fostering continuous improvement to deliver value-driven outcomes for the College. Specifically, the roles and responsibilities of the asset accountant will be to:
Maintain accurate records of company assets, ensuring all acquisitions, disposals, and transfers are properly documented.
Calculate and apply depreciation methods to ensure accurate financial reporting of asset values over time.
Perform monthly reconciliation of asset accounts, ensuring all entries align with the general ledger.
Prepare and present detailed asset-related financial reports for management, including analysis of asset values, depreciation, and impairments.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and assist with internal and external audits related to asset management.
Oversee the process of capitalizing assets and ensuring proper classification according to company policies.
Track the lifecycle of assets from acquisition through disposal, ensuring accurate asset tracking and accounting at each stage.
Ensure maintenance of the fixed asset register.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting for asset-related expenditures and capital projects, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
Support the Payroll process; process Payroll
Prepare Employment Contracts
Key Selection Criteria:
Experience working in complex stakeholder environments
1-3 years accounting/asset management/asset procurement experience.
Can work under pressure in complex environments
Accounting qualification or demonstrated experience in relevant industry.
Experience using Xero
Experience using AASB 16 an advantage
Experience in processing Payroll
Experience preparing Employment Contracts
Experience working in a primary and/or secondary School preferred
