Job Summary

At Ronald McDonald House Charities, we believe that learning shouldn’t stop when a child’s life has been interrupted. The Ronald McDonald Learning Program (RMLP) is a unique educational catch up program for students from kindergarten to Year 12, that aims to reduce the impact a child’s serious illness, injury and / or mental health condition has on their academic performance.

We are seeking a primary or high school teacher to tutor two students (separately) in Muswellbrook (year 5 & year 8).

RMLP engages qualified teachers to provide individual tutoring for one hour per week at the rate of $60.00 per hour, with each student receiving funding for up to 40 hours of tutoring.

Tutoring is very flexible to meet the needs of each student and tutor and can occur at school (subject to consent from the school), or at a suitable public venue agreed upon by the student, tutor and Education Coordinator, such as the local library or community centre.

RMLP teaching is never to occur at the student or tutor’s home, unless via the online RMLP Zoom Education Platform and after the appropriate consent forms have been completed.

RMLP tutors work individually with the student to support their academic progress.

Before starting on the program as an RMLP tutor, you will need to:

1. Complete a RMLP Teacher Registration Form

2. Acquire a Criminal Record Check  (via RMHC Australia at no cost)

3. Acquire an ABN (a necessary requirement as we pay our tutors as contractors)

4. Provide a current Working with Children Check

5. Complete the Safeguarding Children and Young People modules online via our Sarah Learning Platform

6. Sign a RMHC Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Children and Young People Statement

NESA accreditation is not required, retired teachers also encouraged to apply!
