Overview

Kandeer School is a school for specific purpose catering for students with mental health and behaviour disorders. It can be a challenging but rewarding place to teach for the right person. The school currently has a maximum enrolment of 22 students across 4 classes. Each class is supported by an SLSO. Our school systems of support are based on a trauma framework with a focus on building strong relationships at the core of our practice. All students who attend Kandeer School hold a shared enrolment with a mainstream school. Many of our students remain engaged with their ‘home school’ and each Wednesday these students attend their home school with the support of our staff.

Kandeer School has consistently maintained a strong, collegial staff team. We have several unique wellbeing practices in place to support our staff because we recognise that this support is key student success. We meet daily to debrief and have a weekly professional learning session on Friday afternoon; students finish school at 12:50pm on Friday. New casual teachers will be thoroughly inducted to the school, including spending a day team teaching across classes with experienced colleagues.

We like to utilise the skills of our staff to engage our students in learning and recognise that a diverse range of skills and interests are key to helping our students thrive in education. If you are flexible, energetic, have a varied skillset, can build strong relationships with students and are willing to learn then Kandeer School may be a great place for you to work.
