Gilles Street Primary School provides quality primary education in our unique CBD environment. There are 2 main components to our school, a Mainstream Primary School and the Intensive English Language Program (IELP). The IELP offers intensive English language learning for newly arrived overseas students and for Aboriginal English language learners for a period of 12 months.

Our teaching focuses on the Australian Curriculum and through this we provide a rigorous, purposeful and supportive learning programme. We facilitate a teaching and learning program that combines inquiry pedagogy and direct instruction mode in a structure that enables students to apply their learning in an authentic real world context.

Our school attracts students from around the world and our international community represents over 40 different cultural backgrounds. This richness of cultural and learning experiences makes our school a vibrant and diverse learning community.
