Canterbury Vale School is an SSP that provides specialist support for high school students with Behaviour Disorders, Emotional Disturbances and Autism across Sydney. The school caters for a maximum of 49 students from Years 7 to 12, who have been identified by their previous educational setting as those who could best benefit from the intensive educational and social support.

The school has a total of seven classes; three classes, 21 students, specifically for individuals with Behaviour Disorders (BD) one class, 7 students, for individuals with an Emotional Disturbance (ED) and a further three classes, 21 students, with a Mental Health (MH) sign off and Autism Spectrum Disorder (AU).

The school aims to deliver a program designed to help students learn to better manage their approach to learning and successfully integrate back into regular schools or alternate settings. Canterbury Vale School sets challenging, yet attainable goals for all students. The emphasis is to provide students with a safe and caring environment in which they can access quality teaching and learning and be supported in making positive informed choices. Canterbury Vale School operates on an integration model for our BD/ED students, with students attending four days and integrating into home schools or work placements one day per week. A 5-day placement is available for our MH/AU students, although integration is available for these students also.

Canterbury Vale School has a strong focus on trauma-informed practice, will all staff trained in the Berry Street Education Model. We offer a supportive environment for passionate educators and have a mix of both primary and secondary teachers on staff.
