Employment Summary
I'm a preservice teacher with the Mid Career Transition to Teaching scholarship program with the NSW DET. I worked for about 15 years at the Australian Bureau of Statistics prior to training as a teacher, after completing my BSc(Honours, First Class - Mathematics and Statistics) at University of Melbourne. I have a good grasp of high-school mathematics and several of the the different university level disciplines it leads to, and have maintained a keen interest in the history of mathematics and science since graduating. I have completed my junior and senior curriculum methods subjects in Mathematics and the senior curriculum method subject in Science. I'm also generally interested in history and philosophy, and have found covering humanities classes entirely manageable whilst working as a casual teacher.

Work Experience

Statistical methodologist

I worked in various roles in the ABS methodology branch. About half that time was spent doing time series analysis for seasonal adjustment of macroeconomic statistics. I developed some considerable expertise in this area. Other work included sample and survey design, including the use of an experimental method in which I used graph theoretic analysis to cluster contiguous geographic areas with specific characteristics.
