Job Summary
We are seeking to engage a Science Teacher to commence in January 2026. We are a growing Secondary school, this full-time appointment includes a permanent 0.6 FTE and fixed term 0.4 FTE (Leave cover contract).
Candidates with previous experience teaching Senior Physics in the QCAA system and ACARA General Sciences will be considered favorably. As a Secondary Science Teacher, you will aspire to develop the capabilities of our learners with the passion and drive to generate knowledge, spark curiosity, build character and promote connection within our inclusive College Community.
Responsible to the Head of Secondary, you will act under the direction of the curriculum Heads of Faculty, developing and delivering a contemporary, innovative curriculum innovative curriculum which is underpinned by clear expectations and high-quality learning outcomes.
As a Physics Teacher, you will provide students with an opportunity to systematically explore the universe and its constituents - matter, energy, space and time - and the fundamental forces that govern their interactions.
As the foundation upon which all other sciences and technologies have advanced, you will take out students on a journey to understand intuitively how the world works, using qualitative and quantitatively models and theories to visualise, explain and predict physical phenomena.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate their understanding of the relevant QCAA and ACARA curriculum and how they can apply it in a contemporary educational setting, while also catering to the learning needs of their students.
Key selection criteria -

Demonstrated experience developing an engaging teaching and learning culture as an experienced Physics teacher.

Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant science curriculum for both senior secondary and junior secondary.

Demonstrated experience building a culture of positive relationship management with students, families, and colleagues.

Commitment to the Uniting Church ethos and an inclusive College community.

Relevant tertiary qualifications as needed for the role.

Current Queensland College of Teachers registration.
